Marilyn Monroe’s unabashed glamour, was one of the best orchestrated celebrity image. Convinced that the key to success was her well-shaped body and her platinum blonde hair she wore clothes with one purpose – to appear naked. An assistant touched up her blond do’ every 5 days and seamstresses sewed her into her tight zipper-free dresses. Although she favoured fitted simple knits and pencil skirts for a day off, it’s the A-lines and red pouts we remember her for. As sensual as she was sexy, Monroe was a genius at building her iconic image. Her sudden death in 1962 when she committed suicide was tragic but helped spur her bombshell status as everlasting.
